Alliance: Neutral
Personality: novakaine holds a great amount of conflict within himself, unwilling to steep himself completely in the darkness though knowing that the light is not where he belongs. his deformities make him belong to the dark alliance, preferring how the people view him rather than the accusations and stares that the lights and unaligned give his less than proper appearance. still, he remains loyal to his family, especially his sister - he cares a great deal for her well being and will go out of his way to ensure both her safety and happiness.
Description: nova's body is roughly canine in shape, his chest being full while his stomach is pulled up towards his spine to make a very sleek look. his entire frame has a slight sheen to it, not very noticeable during the day though when night comes the moonlight causes him to look almost dipped in silver. his sides and face are greatly marred due to the bony outcroppings that layer over his frame - they look as if a third being other than he and his twin had been forming right over top of his own self. there is no blood around any of the bony shards, they being so deeply embedded that his own flesh preferred to begin growing over top most of the edges, looking as if the pieces were truly attached to his body. they have tried being removed, but only cause the stallion a great sense of discomfort as they are being tugged upon with no movement to the bone.
History:
foalhood: novakaine was an unexpected child to blythe, his horrendous appearance nothing like what she wished to see in a child of her own blood. his sister came soon after him, throwing his mother into a frenzy to save the life of her more normal child, not exactly forgetting her son, but wishing to keep her normal child alive. all novakaine remembers is the staring, blank eyes of his sister as she struggled to take her first breath, imprinting the look of pure terror that graced both the older face of his mother, and the younger one of his twin. it is an expression that is burned into his mind, the look one has right before death. it became a precious memory to him, even at his first moments of life. he did not wish his sister to ever have that look upon her again, wishing to save her from the terror of death. he spent the next months doing everything he could for his sister, growing close to her small, weakened being. he feared anything that could possibly hard her, a chill wind, the rising waters of the river in their home - lest she go too close to them and fall, her weak muscles not be able to swim out. whatever she wished of him was done immediately, with no thought to himself. she was a quiet and gracious invalid though, not wishing much more than her brother to remain at her side and keep her company. even when the other foals of the area would beg him to play, he would remain to keep watch on his sister, making sure a rowdy colt did not wander too close and rouse her from her much needed sleep.
yearling: with his sister stronger than she was as a young foal, novakaine felt it his duty to show her the things she had missed as a foal. he'd take her swimming in the deeper parts of the river in terra sancta, watch her frolic and play with other foals of their age, enjoying the smiles that graced her lips. it was around this time that the other foals began to treat him differently, preferring his normal sister over the abnormal bone fragments that lay over his own frame. their parents had warned them to stay away from him, the physical exterior overlaying the loyal and caring demeanor that lay beneath that surface. his sister was asked to come play, and nova was excluded from the invitation. his sister was a beautiful being though, and would spend her days with her brother, determined to help cure his loneliness at the denial of friendship on all sides. even his mother found it hard to look at him sometimes, trying her best to love him, though novakaine could see that he made her uncomfortable. the only one who truly cared was bastille, and under her careful and observing guidance he bred no ill-will to those that did not understand who he truly was.
two years: novakaine, at two, had the ability to leave the land. he was nearly at his full height, standing above his mother slightly, and even with his sister's willowy frame. he did not go immediately, not wishing to leave the sister he still believed needed his protection. it was bastille that begged him to go, wishing that he would no longer have to endure the looks those of her alliance gave him, knowing in her heart that the brother she loved did not quite belong with them. she was the one who suggested the darks, pained to watch her brother join with a horde of somewhat bloodthirsty murderers, but she knew they would accept his appearance more generally, and wished that he could find the same comfort that she had in the lights. she assured him of her own safety, and asked that he go find his place. she walked him as far as the line between the watering hole and the lands that lay beyond, kissed him once on the cheek, and he watched as she turned around to go back to the home he never belonged to.
